100 things about me, version 2.0
I did this 2 years ago and thought it was a good time to update it. Some of them are repeats as they haven't changed but there are some new ones too.
1. I was born on February 24th, 1971.
2. I know 4 other females born on the same day as me but no males.
3. I'm a Pisces through and through.
4. I used to have strawberry blond hair until I was in my mid-twenties and then it turned dark red.
5. I don't colour my hair.
6. I cycle through long and short hair; currently my hair is below my chin.
7. I keep hoping that I can grow my hair long enough to “donate” it to a wigs for women with cancer-type place but so far no luck.
8. It’s usually about 2 inches too short.
9. I hate paying for haircuts but don’t know any stylists personally.
10. I usually only get my hair cut twice a year.
11. I cut my kids' hair (and get many compliments on it) and they both have bobs without bangs.
12. I wish I could cut my own hair.
13. I'm the picture taker in our family hence there aren't many photos of me.
14. I take all my pictures with a point-and-shoot camera (Canon A710)
15. I like to cook and bake.
16. This year I made a meal calendar for the entire year. It was easier than you’d think.
17. I worry that people think this kind of thing makes me a freak.
18. I have a Master's in Library and Information Studies from McGill University.
19. I’ve done some contract work over the past 5 years but I’m worried that I’m ‘out of the working loop’ for my profession.
20. My last job was as at a public library in Houston, Texas.
21. I loved my job but hated my boss.
22. I read a lot even with two small children.
23. I no longer read until 3 or 4 am like I used to do.
24. I have really developed a love for children's literature since my girls were born.
25. I describe myself as a book snob; I don’t like a lot of kids books and tend towards the classics.
26. I think the public library institution is one of the most underutilized aspects of society.
27. Part of me is glad about this because that means there's more for me.
28. I don’t care to own lots of books because eventually I will have to move them.
29. Except kids books. I think every family should have a sizeable library for their children; I buy almost all my books at the library book sale table.
30. I re-gift a lot of things, especially books and toys.
31. I also exchange and return lots of things, mostly because I try to limit our ‘stuff’.
32. I have twice lost 10-15 pounds due to illness (flu and PPD).
33. I have ridden horses (hunter-jumper) since I was about 10 years old, on and off.
34. I started running in 1998.
35. Since then I have run 2 marathons, 5 half marathons, two 25 milers, two 20 milers, about eight 10Ks, a bunch of 5Ks and had 2 babies. I’m signed up for a half at the end of April (2009) and hope to run the marathon in 2010.
36. Both my girls were born without the aid of any drugs.
37. I’m quite proud of this.
38. My second daughter was born after 1 hour 45 minutes.
39. That was almost too fast.

42. My spouse is the opposite.
43. My favourite drink is a Black and Tan.
44. I don’t have a favourite movie or book.

46. I have an amazing memory for short-term useless stuff.

49. One of the nicest things anyone has ever done for me is when Lisa Marie sent me a case of that cereal after reading the first version of this list.
50. I fluctuate between being vegetarian and eating ribs.
51. I still prepare lots of veggie meals and am flirting with the vegan lifestyle.

59. I don’t like almond flavouring or lavender scent.
60. I have zero tolerance for scented stuff like air fresheners, laundry detergent/fabric softeners.

62. I can’t spend too much time in some people’s homes for this reason.
63. I think I’m becoming milk intolerant.

Okay seriously we have a lot in common - I can't stand anything scented too (although Lavender is the only scent I can handle and I think that is due to the fact that it helps with migraines) and I get offended when people are wearing perfume because it physically hurts me. I hate paying for haircuts too and only get it cut twice a year (and I am SO DUE for one right now) and wish I could cut it myself. As a point of interest - my sister used to have really straight hair and it got curlier with each child. So far mine hasn't straightened out.
I know! It's spooky. When you mentioned Vinyl Cafe, I thought, yikes, maybe she's really me!!
But with nearly black hair. And no freckles. And some years younger. Okay, maybe not but we do have a lot in common. We should hang out more.
