Desi Girl, Take 2
Okay, so I've finally managed to figure out how to separate the two Desi Girl videos that came packaged together from Andrew, spouse of Jen (in pink) who was camera man that night. It took quite some finageling with Toast Titanium but here is another version of our dancey dance. The kids belong to Laurel (in the middle, back). Samantha picked up what she knows with just observations and two short lessons from me and how amazing is she? Will, the little blonde guy? Well, who knows?!! He must have just been watching us practice. My favourite bit is the cackling from Laurel in the back.

Warning: Most of us had consumed at least 5 G&Ts between the first and second "take" of the dance, and boy! Can you ever tell!

Day 5
Pippa hasn't worn a diaper at night or peed in her bed for 5 days (well, 4 so far but I haven't heard the wails of 'wet bed' ) yet and I think the night is over. I'm not making any big deal about it except to suggest that we send her remaining pull-ups off to Baby Mae for when she might grow into them.
Impressions
When I graduated from high school back in 1989, I recall the message from our guest speaker. Can't remember who it was or what he did but I clearly remember what he had to say. Which was this. Don't turn down any opportunity to try out something new, to learn something new. Don't dismiss trying your hand at farming, at baking, at driving a truck if the opportunity presents itself because you just don't know whether or not you might love love love it. (I'm pretty sure he didn't say love, love, love it) And it's important to find something that you love to spend your life doing (and being paid to do) and the only way to find out what you love, if you aren't sure (like me) is to try everything you possible can. Last night I was hanging out with Leanna next door and we were talking about this idea and I said that I'd love to be given the opportunity to 'tail' all my friends who work to see/learn what they do on a daily basis, to gain a bit more of an understanding of what it takes to be a doctor, to be an academic instructor, to work in a publishing company. I guess I'm just not sure that I want to do what I'm currently doing (research) for the rest of my life. When I think about telling my kids what I do, the snores start and the eyes roll and how can it be exciting to them? It's not!! So, where now? As Leanna said, too bad there isn't a 'Take your neighbour to work" day!! I'd be up for that.

I think I brought home a find!
I was at the VV Boutique this afternoon and found this for $9.99 and we need a new teapot (although I bet technically this is a coffee pot).
What do you think?
I also found a great small cast-iron frying pan, the most beautiful, girly dress for Clara and a Boo! shirt for her to wear at Hallowe'en.
A cooking tip!

How to tire out your children
1. Take them to the lovely neighbors down the street who have a huge trampoline and a hot tub that they keep cool for kids to play in. Leave kids there for 6 hours. Watch youngest child spend entire time in hot tub or trampoline. Send eldest child to a birthday party from 1-4 and then return for more hot tub/trampolining (Saturday)
2. Have friend bike nearly 10k with Clara to outdoor splash park at 10am. Drive youngest child to same splash park. Load them up with sunscreen and let them run around like crazies until 4pm with a short break for lunch and then ice cream (Sunday)

On Saturday night, Pippa slept for 14 hours (7pm until 9am) and Clara slept for 12 hours. I'll let you know how it goes tonight.
First pickings
I just ate the first strawberry from our garden and yum yum. Here it was before it was devoured!

PS -four tomatoes have popped out too
